Conditions of Participation

1. Eligibility

Anyone between the ages of 20 and 35 with a current residence in Germany or Georgia is eligible to participate.

All participants who completely participated in both exchanges may submit a series of pictures after the completion of the last week of the seminar in Georgia.

2. Submission of the picture series

2.1 Modalities

Topic of the picture series: The topic of the picture series can be chosen independently and should be roughly subordinate to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8 and 12.

Submission content may also depict faces, subject to the permission of the person depicted.

In addition, the pictures must have been taken during the project period (March to September 2023 inclusive).

Image series may, but do not have to be edited.

The organizer offers supporting workshops and provides assistance.

The series of pictures may only be created by one person. Each person may only submit one series of pictures with a short description.

2.2 Method of submission

The series of pictures should preferably be made available to the project team via this project website. The files must be submitted in png or jpeg format.

Contributions (max. 1 contribution per person) can be submitted to the organizer until October 16, 2023.

A maximum file size of 10 MB per photo should not be exceeded. Please contact us if you need help submitting your entry.

A possibility for uploading will be provided at this place in due time.

2.3 Scope of the picture series and short description

The scope of the picture series should include at least 3 and at most 5 pictures.

The accompanying short description must contain a title and may not be longer than 5 sentences.

The series of pictures must be an independently designed picture series with a short description. The short description must be written in English (max. 2,500 characters incl. spaces).

All submitted pictures can be taken with a smartphone, qualitative resolution does not play an overriding role.

2.4 Authorship

By submitting the series of pictures, the author assures that they have photographed and possibly edited the images independently and that they have not used any aids other than those specified by them (editing programmes, filters).

2.5 Contact details

By submitting the picture series, the author agrees that their personal information (name, address, date of birth, e-mail address, postal address) may be processed and stored by the project organiser (Bildungswerk Sachsen der Deutschen Gesellschaft e. V. and International Center for Peace and Integration) within the framework of the photo competition. As the project is funded by the Federal Foreign Office, the Stiftung Erinnerung, Verantwortung Zukunft and the Civil Society Cooperation (funding programme „Meet UP! Youth for Partnership), the author agrees that the personal details may be passed on to the sponsors. The author assures that they can be contacted under the details provided during the submission until the end of the photo competition. The organiser must be informed of any changes in contact details during the competition.

2.6 Deadline for entries

The deadline for entries is October, 16th 2023.

3. Awarding of prizes

3.1 The series of pictures will be submitted to an independent German-Georgian jury. The jury will decide on the basis of given evaluation criteria about the formal fulfilment, the creative realization and the innovation content of the submitted contribution about the altogether 3 best picture series.

3.2 The three best entries will be selected by a binational jury and awarded prize money (1st place: 500 EUR, 2nd place: 300 EUR, 3rd place: 200 EUR).

3.3 The winning image series will be published on the project website and the Instagram channel created for this purpose. There is no entitlement to publication.

The winners will be notified and contacted by the organizers via E-Mail within the year of 2023.

The prize money will be transferred to the account specified by the winner.

There is no legal claim to the prize money.

3.4 Declaration of consent by the award winners

The prize winners agree to have their names and photographs published on the organisers‘ websites (www.rethink-economy.org, www.dg-bildungswerksachsen.org, www.icpi.ge ), in the newsletter and annual report of the Bildungswerk Sachsen der Deutschen Gesellschaft e.V. and in the organisations‘ social networks as part of the photo competition. The award winners also agree that they may be named and photographed in reports by the Stiftung Erinnerung, Verantwortung, Zukunft for the purpose of project-related public relations work on websites, social media and publications.

3.5 Grant of rights

The prize-winners selected for publication agree to allow the Bildungswerk Sachsen der Deutschen Gesellschaft e.V., all participating partner organisations and the Stiftung Erinnerung, Verantwortung, Zukunft to publish the contribution they submitted in their application after the competition.

4. Rights and obligations of the author with regard to the publication

4.1 Second publication

In the event of a second publication of the article in other media, the author must obtain the written consent of the publisher. The publisher, title, place of publication and year of publication of the first publication must be stated in the case of further publications.

If the author has already published their submitted contribution in another medium prior to publication on the project website, the author is required to clarify the publication rights for the publication taking place within the framework of the photo competition.

4.2 Fee

The author will not receive any fee for the publication of the photo series.
